The IUCN RHINO approach aspires to deliver the following vision:
Companies deliver rapid, significant, measurable and verified contributions to the KMGBF and the Nature-Positive Global Goal, specifically in reducing species extinction risk and risk of ecosystem collapse, in line with national commitments and with active participation from and benefit to governments and civil society.
The Rhino approach will allow companies to:
- Identify risks and opportunities related to impacts on biodiversity
- Identify, plan and implement rapid, high integrity nature-positive contributions to the Global Goal for Nature, KMGBFand SDGs,
- Identify and ‘score’ where on the pathway to delivery of those contributions they are
- Be in compliance with corporate reporting and disclosure requirements,
- Decide on, design and deliver interventions
- Deliver contributions through reductions in extinction risk to species and in risk of collapse to ecosystems, at particular sites and their surrounding landscapes
- Ensure regular monitoring, verification and disclosure of progress
